The Six Mystical Dimensions

“The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science.” — Albert Einstein

At Elevate Medical, we honor the possibility that mystical states—when they arise—can be part of the healing process. These states are not forced, but welcomed. They may arrive gently, without fanfare, or not at all. But when they do, they offer something profound.

These six qualities are widely recognized in spiritual and clinical literature as central to mystical experience. Patients who undergo Spravato® treatment sometimes describe one or more of these states emerging naturally during their sessions.

1. Ineffability
“Words can’t describe it.”
Many people describe their experience as beyond language—felt in the body, known in the soul. This sense of wordlessness can be liberating, freeing healing from the limits of explanation.

2. Noetic Quality
“I understood something deeply.”
This isn’t intellectual knowing. It’s a direct experience of truth—of insight or inner recognition—that can change how someone relates to themselves and their story.

3. Transiency
“It was brief, but powerful.”
The experience itself may only last a few minutes, but its meaning lingers—softening the system, shifting perspective, and offering a new rhythm to move forward from.

4. Passivity
“I didn’t try. It just happened.”
Mystical states are not effortful. They arise on their own. This cultivates surrender, which can be especially healing for those used to being in control.

5. Sense of Oneness or Unity
“I felt connected to everything.”
This might show up as merging with light, nature, or one’s own breath. It dissolves separation, often leaving in its place a sense of peace, safety, or love.

6. Timelessness
“Time disappeared.”
When the mind releases its grip on past and future, presence expands. Timelessness is often where deep rest, perspective, and repair are found.

Spravato® may not induce all of these states—and it doesn’t need to. Even one moment of clarity, softness, or light can be enough.

We are here to support that journey—whether it’s quiet, profound, or anything in between.
